schwab designed a U-shaped endless chain conveyor for Tulke Rohr + Draht GmbH & Co. KG in Arnsberg, North-Rhine Westphalia. As a result, the family-run metal processing business has significantly expanded its storage capacities. Tulke was therefore able to do without constructing a new hall, which was the other alternative being considered.
Tulke specializes in pipe and wire bending work. The numerous products made by the company are used in automotive engineering, medical technology, the lighting, furniture and other manufacturing industries. Short delivery times and the realization of complex bending parts with narrow tolerances are among Tulke's strengths. The number of products requires a large warehouse, whose capacity was finally exhausted in 2012. The U-shaped endless chain conveyor specially developed, produced and commissioned after 25 weeks by schwab for Tulke provides additional space for 147 tons of material.
Schwab developed an endless chain conveyor in the shape of an inverted "U" with two operating and removal stations on each side for Tulke's warehouse. The 147 cradles were fed along the sides of the "U" up to under the hall ceiling and along it so that free space upwards was used, whilst the area below was available as previously. By designing the cradles for a material weight of one ton each, this results in an additional storage capacity of 147 tons in total.
